1. LOUDSPEAKEROUTPUTS

WARNING! Never use theamplifier without aload

attached!

There are two parallelloudspeaker output jacks

provided for connection to theinternal speakers or

extension cabinet. Please alwaysensure thatthe

amplifier's outputimpedance selectoris set correctly

(see item2) andALWAYS ensure you use good quality

speaker (unshielded) cables.NEVER use guitar(shielded)

cables.

Alwaysuse a non-screened Marshallapproved speaker

lead whenconnecting an extension cabinetto these

units.

2. OUTPUTIMPEDANCESELECTOR

Matches theamplifier’soutput to the load (speaker)

impedance.

Your 1987X-PW should be completely powered down

before the Output ImpedanceSelector is turned.

As isthe case with any Marshallall-valveamplifierit is

imperative that:a) the amplifieris connected to aload

whilst inoperation and b) theimpedance selected on

the amplifiermatches the totalimpedanceofthe

extension speaker cabinet(s) beingused.The two

internal speakers are 16Ohms each.These arewired in

parallel givingan overall impedance of8Ohms;

thereforethe outputselector should be setto 8 Ohms.

If anadditional 8 Ohmextension speaker cabinetis used

in conjunctionwith theinternalspeakers theoutput

selector should beset to 4Ohms.

Note: No additional extensionspeaker cabinetwith

impedance lower than 8Ohms should be used in

conjunction withthe internalspeakers.

Failure to comply withany ofthe points raised in this

section willresult indamage tothe amplifier.

3. MAINSSELECTOR

Matches the amplifier’smains transformer tothe

incoming mainsvoltage.

Your 1987X-PWshould always be completelypowered

down before the mains selector isturned.

WARNING! ALWAYS ensure that this rotaryselector

is setto the correct mains voltage applicableforthe

countrywhere the1987X-PW is being used.If you do

not know,consult your authorized Marshalldealer.

Adjusting theselector from 230V to 120/100Vorvice-

versa willrequire the mainsfuse (item 5)tobe changed

to thecorrect valueas detailed onthe rear panel.

4. MAINSINPUT

Your amp is provided withadetachablemains(power)

lead,which is connected here.The specificmainsinput

voltage ratingthatyour amplifierhas beenbuilt for is

indicated onthe backpanel.Before connecting forthe

first time,please ensure thatyour amplifieriscompatible

with yourelectricitysupply.Ifyou have any doubt,please

get advicefrom aqualified technician.Your Marshall

dealer willhelp you in this respect.

5. MAINSFUSE

The correct value ofmains fuseis specified on the

rear panel oftheamplifier.NEVERattempt to

bypass the fuse orfitone oftheincorrect value.

6. H.T. FUSE

The correct value ofthis H.T.fuseis specified on

the rear panel oftheamplifier.NEVER attemptto

bypass the fuse orfitone oftheincorrect value.

 Note:This equipmenthasbeen tested and

found to complywith therequirements ofthe

EMC directive (Environments E1,E2 andE3 EN

55103-1/2) and theLowVoltagedirective in the E.U.

 EUROPE ONLY -Note:The Peak Inrush

current for the 1987X-PW is 26amps.
