(SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS)

This manual contains important safety instructions. Please read and follow all instructions carefullyduring

installation and operation of the unit. Read thismanual thoroughly before attempting to unpack,install,or

operate your UPS.

CAUTION! Toprevent the risk offireorelectricshock,install in atemperature and humiditycontrolled indoor

area free ofconductive contaminants. (See the specifications for theacceptable temperatureand humidity

range.)

CAUTION! Toreduce the riskof overheating theUPS, donot cover the UPS' cooling ventsandavoidexposing

the unitto direct sunlight or installing the unit nearheat emitting appliances such as space heatersorfurnaces.

CAUTION! Donot attach non-computer-related items,suchasmedical equipment, life-support equipment,

microwave ovens, or vacuum cleaners to UPS.

CAUTION! Donot plug the UPS inputinto its own output.

CAUTION! Donot allow liquids or any foreign object to enter theUPS. Do not place beverages orany other

liquid-containingvessels on ornear the unit.

CAUTION! Intheeventofan emergency, presstheOFF buttonanddisconnectthe powercord from the AC

power supply to properly disabletheUPS.

CAUTION! Do notattachapowerstrip orsurge suppressorto theUPS.

CAUTION! Unplug theUPS prior to cleaning and donot use liquid orspray detergent.

CAUTION! Servicing ofbatteriesshould beperformed orsupervised bypersonnel knowledgeable of batteries

and therequired precautions. Keep unauthorized personnel away from batteries.

CAUTION! The battery supply should be therefore disconnected in the plus andminus poleat the quick

connectorsof thebatterywhen maintenance or service workinside the UPS is necessary.

CAUTION! Internalbattery voltage is 12Vdc. Sealed, lead-acid, 6-cell battery.

CAUTION! Whenreplacing the batteries,use thesame number and type of batteries.

CAUTION! Do not dispose of batteriesin a fire.The batterymay explode.Do not open ormutilate thebatteryor

batteries.Released electrolyte is harmful to the skinand eyes.

OVERVIEW

The BU600/800/1000EAprovides automaticvoltage regulation for inconsistent utility power,and provides

battery backup during power outages. The BU600/800/1000EAensuresconsistentpower to your computer

system.

HARDWAREINSTALLATION GUIDE

1.Your newUPSmay be usedimmediatelyupon receipt.However, rechargingthe batteryforatleast 8 hours

is recommended toensurethatthebattery'smaximum charge capacityis achieved.Chargeloss mayoccur

during shipping and storage. To recharge the battery,simply leave the unitplugged intoan AC outlet. The

unitwillcharge inboth the on and offposition.

2.With the UPSunit off and unplugged, connect thecomputer, monitor,and any externally powered data

storage device (Zip drive,Jazz drive,Tape drive, etc.into the batterypowersupplied outlets.DO NOTplug

alaserprinter,copier,space heater, vacuum, paper shredder or otherlarge electrical device into

the battery power suppliedoutlets.The powerdemands ofthesedeviceswilloverload andpossibly

damage the unit.

3.Plug the UPSinto a 2 pole, 3wire grounded receptacle (walloutlet). Make sure thewall branch outlet is

protected by a fuse or circuit breaker and does not service equipment with largeelectrical demands (e.g. air

conditioner, refrigerator, copier, etc. Avoid using extension cords.

4.Pressthe powerswitch toturn the unit on. Thepoweronindicator light willilluminate and the unitwill

"beep".

5.If an overloadisdetected,an audible alarm will sound and the unit will emitonelong beep.To correct this,

turn theUPS off and unplug at least onepiece of equipment from the batterypower supplied outlets. Wait

10 seconds. Make sure thecircuit breaker / fuseis normaland then turns the UPSon.

6.Tomaintain optimal batterycharge, leave the UPS plugged into anAC outlet at all times.

7.To store yourUPS foran extendedperiod,cover itandstorewith the batteryfullycharged. Rechargethe

battery every three months to ensure battery life.

BASIC OPERATION

1.Power Switch

Pressthe switch for2 seconds to turn the UPSONor OFF.

Alarm setting:The audible alarm canbe turned OFF or ONbyquicklypressing the POWER button

twice.Thedefaultsettingisforthe AlarmOn.To turnthe AlarmOff,quickly
