Cleaning the Fryer
Cleaning should be carried out when the fryer is unplugged
from the mains. The fryer and the oil should be completely
cool. When cleaning, avoid the use of abrasive cleaning
materials as these may damage the appliance surfaces.
Remove the basket from the fryer. Remove the lid, and remove
the filter from the grease trap. For guidance on removing and
repositioning these items see P 4.
Cleaning the basket: The basket and handle should be
washed in warm soppy water, rinsed and dried.
Cleaning the lid: The appliance lid and the cover of the
grease trap should also be washed in warm soppy water, rinsed
and dried.
Cleaning the Oil Tank: Ensure the appliance is fully cool, the
lid and basket have been removed and the unit is unplugged.
Carefully lift and tilt the appliance to the left and pour the oil off
into a suitable receptacle from the left side. (If you are left-
handed use the right side.) Pour warm soapy water into the
tank and wash it well. Rinse in fresh water and allow to dry.
If you intend to re-use the oil: filter it well.
If you are using solid fat: Remove the basket before the fat
has cooled. Remove as much of the cooled fat as possible with
a plastic spatula before washing the tank. Ensure the washing
water is hot enough to remove all traces of fat from the tank.
When washing the oil tank ensure you do not damage the
interior surface.
Wipe the body of the fryer with a damp cloth and dry well.
Never immerse the body in any liquid.
When all the components are cleaned and dried:
Re-assemble the fryer. Replace the filter.
Replace the basket in the fryer and close the lid.
Storing The Fryer
If you store the oil separately: Place the basket in the fryer
and close the lid.
If you store the fryer with oil in the tank: Store it with the
basket in the lowered (frying) position and the lid closed.
Ensure the fryer is securely stored in a cupboard or in a place
where the oil is unlikely to spill or get contaminated.
Making Replacement Filters
You may make your own filters very easily. You will need a
plain filter sheet available from kitchen accessory stores. Place
a sheet of paper in the filter recess and draw around the inside
to make a template. Cut the template with a pair of sharp
scissors and use it to make your replacement filters.
Warranty
Your appliance is covered by a warranty for 12 months from
the date of purchase. If a fault develops during this period,
please return the unit to your nearest Tesco store together with
the original receipt as proof of purchase. This warranty in no
way affects your consumer rights.

Cooking With the Fryer
First the tank must be filled with the correct amount of oil
and be preheated to the correct temperature. When this
process is complete you can proceed to the cooking stage.
Fill the tank with oil
At the rear of the oil tank there are
two marks MIN and MAX. Pour in
sufficient oil to reach the MAX mark.
Do not overfill.
The capacity of the tank is 2.0 litres - 1.6 litres is needed to
cover the MIN mark. There should always be sufficient oil in the
tank to cover the MIN mark.
Corn oil, sunflower oil, ground nut oil and vegetable oil are all
suitable for use with the fryer. You may use solid vegetable fat
but this is much more difficult to handle. Solid fat should be
melted in a separate pan before transferring it to the tank.
Do not use margarine, butter or olive oil. Do not mix
different oils and fats.
Ensure the frying basket is in the Frying position.
Close the lid: Close the lid of the fryer. Make sure the lid catch
clicks into place. This will prevent steam from escaping.
Plug the fryer into the mains. Plug the fryer into the mains
point and switch on the power at the mains
Preheat The Oil - Do not omit this process!
Set the correct oil temperature for the food by moving the
temperature selector to the appropriate position.
After about 12 minutes the oil will be at the correct temperature
and the POWER light will go off.
Note: when used for the first time the fryer may emit a slight
odour. This is harmless and quite normal. The odour will cease
after a very short time.
COOKING
When the oil is at the correct temperature: open the fryer
lid, lift the basket up and hook it over the front of the oil tank to
raise it.
Place the food to be cooked (which should be as dry as
possible) in the basket. Do not overfill the basket.
Always have the basket in the raised position when filling it.
Lower the filled basket into the oil. Close the lid.
During cooking the Power light will go on and off while the
cooker maintains the correct frying temperature.- this is
normal.
Hints on Using Your Fryer
Use a recommended oil - do not mix oils or fats.
Take into account the type of food when you set the frying
temperature. Generally, precooked foods need a higher
cooking temperature than raw foods.
If you need to add oil, do so between batches. Allow a short
time for the oil to heat up to the right temperature.
Ensure there is enough room to open the appliance lid and
operate the frying basket.
Cook food thoroughly. Remember that food may turn
golden brown before it has cooked through.
Use the fryer in well ventilated conditions. All food,
contains moisture which turns to steam during frying. Most of
this steam escapes through the filter in the lid.
Do not lean over the fryer when cooking food or when
opening the lid.
Check the progress of the food during cooking .
When The Food Is Cooked
Open the lid fully. Be careful as there may be steam in the fryer.
Lift the basket just clear of the oil, shake it slightly to remove
excess oil. and hook it over the front edge of the oil well.
A) If the food is not fully cooked: Return the basket into the
oil, close the lid and continue the cooking process until the
food has been fully cooked.
B) If the food is fully cooked: Transfer the food carefully to a
heatproof utensil using heatproof tongs or a metal spoon.
When cooking has been completed
Return the basket to the fryer, switch off the mains socket and
unplug the fryer. Now leave the appliance to cool fully before
cleaning.
Note: If you are using solid fat, remove the basket from the fryer
before the fat in the tank solidifies. Wash the basket in hot
soapy water. Use great care as the fat may splatter when it
comes into contact with the water. Alternatively, leave the basket
on a heatproof surface to cool after removing it from the fryer.
