User Instructions
Inserting Battery

battery compartment. Insert battery, matching the polarity
markings inside the battery compartment. Screw mic/cover
back together.
Connecting Microphone
• To connect to camera: Screw camera cable’s threaded 1
/8" plug
into end of microphone. Plug the other 1
/8" plug into camera’s
mic input. (If camera includes a built-in mic, consult the
camera’s user guide for instructions on disabling its mic.)
• To connect to recording device: Screw recording cable’s
threaded 1
/8" plug into end of microphone. Plug the cable’s
other two 1/
8" plugs (or ¼" adapters) into the stereo inputs on
the recording device.
Turning On
• Turn on camera or recording device.
• Slide microphone switch into the ON position.
Slide to OFF position to turn microphone off.
Using Camera Mount or Mic-stand Base
• Camera mount screws onto top of most video and DSLR cameras.
Slide the mic far enough into the mount’s clamp so it is held securely.
• Mic also can be attached to a mic stand or boompole. Using
a flathead screwdriver, remove the clamp from the camera
mount, then attach the clamp to the top of mic-stand base.
Screw mic-stand base onto top of mic stand or boompole.
Slide the mic into the clamp.
Tips
For best results, position mic as close to sound source as
possible. Beyond three or four feet, the audio may start to sound
distant. Also, try to aim the mic at the sound source, as sound
from the side or rear will not be picked up well. Still, some side
or rear sound may be recorded—keep this in mind, especially if
mounting mic to a camera, since some camera operation noise
may be captured.
