Gas Cooktop Quick Start Guide

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Using Your Cooktop

WARNING

Fire Hazard

Donot lettheburnerflameextendbeyond

the edgeofthepan.

Turnoff all controls when not cooking.

Failure to follow these instructions can

result in death or fire.

SELECTING THE PROPER FLAME SIZE

The flame size should match the cookware

you are using. Watch the flame, not the

knob, to adjust the heat. The flame should

be adjusted so it doesnot extend beyond

the edge of the pan.

■High flame - Start food cooking, bring

water to a boil, or pan broiling.

■Mediumflame - Maintain a slow boil, fry

or sauté, thicken sauces, steam, or

stew.

■Low flame -Keep food cooking,

simmer, or keep food warm.

Before setting a control knob, place a filled

cookware on the grate. Do not operate a

burner using empty cookware or without

cookware on the grate.

REMEMBER: When cooktop is in use, the

entire cooktop area may become hot.

POWER FAILURE

In case of prolonged power failure, the surface burners can belit manually.Hold a lit match near a burner

and push in and turn the gas control knob toHI until it lights and then turn the knob to desiredsetting.

PROPANE GAS CONVERSION

IMPORTANT: This cooktop is factory set for use with Natural gas.If you wish to use Liquid Propane, call a

licensed professional to install the Propane gas conversion kit (included).

PLACEMENT OFBURNER HEADS AND CAPS

All burner caps and burner bases should be properly installedBEFORE operating the cooktop. Checkthat

the right size head and cap is on the rightsize burner.

Refer to the “Assembling the Burners” section for proper burnerhead placement details.

LIGHTING THE BURNERS

IMPORTANT: All burners will click/spark when a knob is pushedin. A burner will light only if the knob is

pushed in then turned counterclockwise to.

To light theburners:

1. Push in the knob.

2. Turn the knob counterclockwiseto. Wait until you see a flame.

3. Turn the knob anywherebetween HI and LO to the desired setting.

NOTE: Visually check that the burner has lit. If the burner doesnot ignite,listen for a clicking sound. If you do

not hear the igniter click, turn the burner off. Check for a trippedcircuitbreaker or blownhousehold fuse.

Check that the control knob is pressed completely down on thevalve shaft. If the spark igniter still does not

operate,calla trained repair specialist.

Burner Placement

■Burner caps and heads are included with your cooktop.

■Always match the burner head size to the capsize.

■Always line up the hole in the burner headto the electrode.

GRATE PLACEMENT

To install thegrates, align the bottom of the grates

with the grooves on the cooktop.
