INSTRUCCIONES IMPORTANTES DE SEGURIDAD
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
• Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric
shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
PERSONAL SAFETY
• Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use com-
mon sense when operating tool. Do not use tool
while you are tired or under the inuence of drugs,
alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while
operating tools may result in serious personal injury.
• Use personal protective equipment. Always wear
eye protection. Protective equipment such as a dust
mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat or hearing
protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce
personal injuries.
• Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance
at all times. This enables better control of the tool in
unexpected situations.
• Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jew-
elry. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving
parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught
in moving parts.
• Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of
tools allow you to become complacent and ignore
tool safety principles. A careless action can cause
severe injury within a fraction of a second.
TOOL USE AND CARE
• Maintain tools and accessories. Check for misalign-
ment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts
and any other condition that may aect the tool’s
operation. If damaged, have the tool repaired before
use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained
tools.
• Use the tool, accessories, etc. in accordance with
these instructions, taking into account the working
conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the
tool for operations dierent from those intended could
result in a hazardous situation.
• Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean
and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and
grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and
control of the tool in unexpected situations.
SERVICE
• Have your tool serviced by a qualied repair person
using only identical replacement parts. This will
ensure that the safety of the tool is maintained.
SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR
CRIMPERS
WARNING
To reduce the risk of arc ash,
electric shock and property
damage, work on deenergized lines when
possible. Tool is not insulated. Should work
on energized lines be required, ensure all proper
precautions, including those contained in NFPA
70E, have been taken rst.
• Do not allow persons unfamiliar with the tool or
these instructions to operate the tool. Tools are
dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
• Do not use on live electrical lines. Turn o power
before making a crimp. Electric shock, explosion, and
property damage could occur.
• Tool is intended for two-handed use. Keep hands
on handles and away from crimping jaws during
use. Fingers could be crushed by jaws.
•
To reduce the risk of injury, always wear proper
eye protection marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1.
• Inspect and discard workpieces with cracks or wear
before use. Materials may crack or shatter.
• Use tool only with dies and connectors for which it
is rated. Tool, dies, and connectors must be used
in an APPROVED COMBINATION to achieve a
successful operation. Improper combinations can
result in a faulty crimp. Electric shock, re, explosion,
and property damage could occur.
• Follow connector manufacturers' installation in-
structions. Other uses may cause damage to the tool,
accessories, and workpiece.

• Copper taps from #10 solid to #2/0 stranded
• Aluminum/ACSR taps from #14 solid to #4/0 ACSR
• Stirrups from #6 AWG to #4/0 ACSR
• Copper and aluminum code conductor connectors
from #6 AWG to #4/0 stranded
• Overhead full tension deadend, full and non-tension
splices and terminals from #10 stranded to #4/0 ACSR
• 5/8" and .840" service entrance sleeves
ASSEMBLY
WARNING
To reduce the risk of electric shock,
re, explosion, and property damage,
use only PROPERLY MATCHED dies, connectors,
and cables. Improper combinations can result in a
faulty crimp.
Selecting and Changing the Dies
Inspect dies and connectors before use. Only use
properly matched dies and connectors for the crimper.
Follow connector manufacturers' installation instructions.
1. To insert, push in the retaining pins and snap the
appropriate dies into each side of the crimping jaws.
Release the retaining pins.
2. To remove, push in the retaining pins pull dies out
from crimping jaws.
OPERATION
WARNING

An incomplete or faulty crimp could cause a re.
Use only PROPERLY MATCHED dies, connectors,
and cables. Improper combinations can result in a
faulty crimp. An incomplete or faulty crimp could
result in severe injury or death.
To reduce the risk of injury, always wear
proper eye protection marked to comply
with ANSI Z87.1.
Tool is intended for two-handed use. Keep
hands on handles and away from crimping
jaws during use. Fingers could be crushed
by jaws.
Crimping
Before crimping:
• Inspect the crimper and dies for cracks or other dam-
age. Do not use damaged crimper or dies. Contact a
MILWAUKEE service facility.
• Dies, connectors, and cables must
be used in an AP-
PROVED COMBINATION
. Improper combinations
can result in a faulty crimp.
• Inspect and discard workpieces with cracks or wear
before use. Materials may crack or shatter.
• Follow connector manufacturers' installation instruc-
tions. Other uses may cause damage to the tool,
accessories, and workpiece.
• Ensure W dies are properly installed, or use the per-
manent BG or D3 bays.
1. Place jaws around the connector, according to the
connector manufacturers' installation instructions.
Start in the center for splices and "H" frames, and
on the end, nearest the pad, for terminals.
2. Holding tool handles securely, press together until
the handle blocks contact each other. A slight "pop"
may be heard as the index marks cross the center
to insure a proper crimp.

SÉCURITÉ ÉLECTRIQUE
• Éviter tout contact avec des surfaces mises à

SÉCURITÉ INDIVIDUELLE

ments amples, ni bijoux. Garder les cheveux et les
vêtements à l’écart des pièces en mouvement. Les
vêtements ottants, les bijoux ou les cheveux longs
risquent d’être happés par les pièces en mouvement.
• La familiarité acquise de l’utilisation fréquente des
outils ne doit pas vous permettre d’ignorer les prin-
cipes de sécurité de l’outil. Une fraction de seconde
d’inattention peut entraîner des blessures graves.
UTILISATION ET ENTRETIEN
DE L’OUTIL
• Entretien des outils et des accessoires. Vérier
qu'aucune pièce mobile n'est mal alignée ou blo-
quée, qu'aucune pièce n'est brisée et s'assurer
qu'aucun autre problème risque d'aecter le bon
fonctionnement de l'outil. En cas de dommages,
faire réparer l’outil avant l'utilisation. Beaucoup
d'accidents sont causés par des outils mal entretenus.
• Utiliser l’outil, les accessoires, etc. conformément
à ces instructions en tenant compte des conditions
de travail et de la tâche à eectuer. L’utilisation
de l’outil à des ns diérentes de celles qui ont été
prévues pourrait mener à une situation dangereuse.
• Garder les poignées et les surfaces de prise
sèches, propres et exemptes d’huile ou de graisse.
Les surfaces de prise et les poignées glissantes ne
permettent pas de maintenir et de contrôler l’outil d’une
manière sécuritaire en cas d’imprévus.
ENTRETIEN
• La réparation de l’outil doit être confiée à un
technicien qualié, utilisant exclusivement des
pièces identiques à celles d’origine. Le maintien
de la sécurité de l’outil sera ainsi assuré.
RÈGLES DE SÉCURITÉ

prises à l’avance.
• Interdire à quiconque de les utiliser si la personne
ne connaît pas bien le produit ou les instructions
de fonctionnement. Dans les mains de personnes
n'ayant pas reçu des instructions adéquates, les outils
sont dangereux.
• Ne pas utiliser sur les lignes électriques sous ten-
sion. Couper l'alimentation avant de procéder à un
sertissage. Une décharge électrique, une explosion
et des dommages matériels pourraient se produire.
• L’outil est conçu pour être utilisé à deux mains.
Pendant l'utilisation de l'outil, garder les mains
sur les poignées et à l’écart des mors de sertis-
sage. Les doigts risquent d’être écrasés par les mors.

porter la protection oculaire appropriée certiée
conforme à la norme ANSI Z87.1.

USO Y CUIDADO DE LAS

REGLAS ESPECIFICAS

NOTE: Hold tool by the ends of the handle to mini-
mize arm fatigue.
3. -Continue crimping according to the connector manu
facturers' installation instructions. Rotate tool 90°
before each adjacent crimp. Work from the center to
the outer edges for splices and "H" frames, alternat-
ing sides if possible.
Inspection, Adjustment and Maintenance
Periodically inspect the crimper for wear and misalign-
ment.
1. Daily, remove W dies and wipe jaws clean. Remove
any dirt, debris, or foreign substances using a sti
ber (not metal) brush.
2. Check for misalignment. With the jaw tips just touch-
ing, but the tool not closed tightly, the index marks
should be aligned. If they are not aligned:
a. Open tool and close handles until jaw tips just
touch. Handles should not be closed tightly
and the handle blocks should not touch.
b. If the index marks (red lines) on the links line
up, no adjustment is necessary.
c. If the marks do not line up, loosen the locking
set screw using a 1/4" (6.4 mm) hex key, and
then turn the adjusting set screw clockwise or
counterclockwise until the marks line up.
d. Tighten the locking set screw securely.
3. Every two (2) months, lightly lubricate handle pivots
and all rubbing surfaces with a good grade machine oil.
4. For all other maintenance or repairs, contact a
MILWAUKEE service facility.
