  TheremoteactuatorRX4-8Aisanindependentlymountedautomaticcontrolforheating
andairconditioningapplications,designedforcomunicationswithAthena programmable 
thermostat (radio and bus) and Klio digital thermostat (radio). 
  Itprovidesatype1Bactionsanditisdesignedforhouseholdandsimilarusewith
overvoltage category III and normal pollution level (EN 60730-1).
 SAFETY WARNINGS
   During product installation and operation, the following safety instructions should be 
respected:
 1)  The instrument should be installed by qualified personnel
 2)   Before touching the terminals, make sure there is no power supply to the electric wires
 3)  Do not power or connect the instrument if any part of it is damaged
 4)  Follow the connection diagrams descripted on this manual and over the instrument
 5)  The electrical system of the building in which the instrument is to be installed should have 
a switch and a protective device against over-currents. 
 6)    The instrument must be installed and activated in compliance with current electric systems 
standards
7)    After installation, inaccessibility to the connection terminals without appropriate tools 
must be granted.

FUNCTION
 • Instartingphase,theredLEDsashestwiceforsomeseconds(switchingon-sequence).
 • Attheendoftheswitchingon-sequence,thegreenLEDsignalnormaldeviceoperationand
theredLEDsrelaystatus(lighton=relayON).
 • Theremotecontrol(relaycommutationON/OFF)requestfromKlio digital thermostat and 
Athenaprogrammablethermostattakeplaceonlyafterchannelsetting-up.
Network example
 • Theradioconnectionbreakdownformorethan15minutesbetweenthetransmitter
andthereceiverdisconnectstherelay/relaysandtheredLED/LEDslightened.Restoreof
operations is automatic.
   Channel setting-up
    – Duringnormaloperation,presstheSETkey-buttonforalmostthreesecondstoenterin
modality-conguration.GreenLEDswitch-off,redLEDash.PresstheSETkey-button
to select the output relay.
    – Theinstrumentkeeponmodality-congurationforamaximumof60secondswithinthe
actuator should receive a string configuration (see Athena Klioand/or instructionsfor
string start-up modality).
    – Onreceiptofstring,channelissetted-upandtheactuatorisonstandardfunctioning.
    – Forre-settingup,repeatingtheprocedure.
 • Toresetchannelsetting-up,plugintocongurationmodalitywithSETbutton,thenpush
thesameoneforthreesecondsandwaitforgreenledswitchingon.
  Anewchannelsettingupcancelsthepreviousconguration.
 SERIAL OUTPUT
  RX4-8AfeaturesaninsulatedserialoutputRS485forcommunication.Itispossibleto
connectupto64instrumentsuptoamaximumdistanceof40m.
Note:  It is possible to connect a remote actuator with different programmable 
thermostats  . In this case it is necessary to configure different zones Athena
for each  . Exemple: 2 Athena Athena are connected with a remote actuator: 
if Z1 is selected in the first  , then Z2, Z3 or Z4 must be selected in the Athena
second Athena.
