Thank you for choosing Kopul.
The Kopul PDI-40 High-Performance Passive Direct Box lets you connect
your unbalanced, high-impedance signal to a balanced, low-impedance
input. It is most often used for plugging an electric keyboard, guitar, or
bass guitar directly into a mixing console’s microphone-level input. The
PDI-40 can also be used in DJ applications for converting +10 dB DJ
mixer signals to balanced, line-level signals to facilitate longer cable runs
and to interface with mixing consoles.
The PDI-40 features a parallel output to connect to an amplier, an
attenuation switch to lower the signal input by -20 or -40 dB, and a
ground-lift button to minimize hum noise or ground loops.

Setting Up
 1. Connect the output of your unbalanced source signal to the
PDI-40’s input. If you are using effects, insert them between
the source signal and the PDI-40, so you can monitor the
effects via both the amplier and the mixing console.
 2. Set the attenuation switch to -20 dB. You can adjust this
later if necessary.
 3. Connect your amplier’s input to the PDI-40’s para out.
 4. Connect the microphone-level input of your mixing console
to the PDI-40’s balanced output.
If the source signal is too high or low, adjust the attenuation switch
as needed.
If you are experiencing buzzing or humming noises, press the
ground-lift button.

The input for your unbalanced, high-impedance
signal source.
Wired in parallel to the input, so you can output the
signal source through to an amplier. The signal
remains unchanged and is routed directly to the
amplier.
Attenuates the input by -20 or -40 dB.
The balanced, low-impedance output connects to
the mixing console’s microphone-level input.
Fully separates the input and output grounding to
minimize hum noise or ground loops. When the
button is pressed, the ground connection is
interrupted.
