INTRODUCTION
The name DI box comes from direct injecon box, that means exactly: To inject a signal directly or take an
audio signal from the source and send it directly to a mixer console or recorder. Direct boxes perform several
important funcons: they are designed as impedance matching and signal balancing devices. This means that
they take the high impedance of a guitar or keyboard and ‘transform’ it to the low impedance used in balanced
sound systems. Balanced signals inherently cancel noise and, due to their lower impedance, are capable of very
long cable runs. Balanced signals are the norm in professional recording, broadcast and live sound. By properly
matching the impedance you will enjoy beer sound, less noise and an extended frequency response.
DIRECT100A is an acve direct box with an isolaon transformer. This means that it includes a powered circuit
to convert the impedance and balance the signal and, with the isolaon transformer, a full isolaon from
grounds avoiding hum and buzz problems. It derives its power from the mixing console phantom power or
from a baery.
CONTROLS AND AUDIO CONNECTION
1. PAD - switch
The pad switch reduces the input signal to the circuit to ensure a clean and distoron-free signal.
Two steps are possible: 0 dB and -20 dB. Always use as lile as aenuaon as possible to get the best possible
signal with reference to the noise oor.
2. INPUT - unbalanced JACK or female XLR
Connect the source instrument to this 1/4” jack to receive the signal. The input impedance depends on PAD
seng: > 250 Kohm with no pad, 47 Kohm with pad inseron.
3. LINK - unbalanced JACK
Connect this 1/4” jack to the input of the backline instrument or monitor amplier. It is directly connected at
the input.
4. ON - blue LED
The ON LED shows when the DIRECT100A is powered. If the led doesn’t light, be sure that the phantom power
of the channel where the DIRECT100A is connected is acvated.
5. PWR - switch
The power switch is used for both baery and phantom power. NOTE: To prevent damaging of your speaker
and avoid switching noise, rst connect the DI box and then hook up the respecve channel or mute the mix
channel before acvang or connecng the DIRECT100A.
6. GND LIFT - switch
Use the GND LIFT switch to either connect the ground pin of input and output or keep them completely
separated. Depending on the grounding of the connected devices linking or disconnecng will reduce hum
and buzz noises and prevent ground loops.
7. BAL OUTPUT - male XLR
This male XLR output connector is the balanced microphone level output of the DI and it is wired with pin-1
ground, pin-2 hot and pin-3 cold. To power the DI box it must be connected to the phantom powered MIC input
of the mixing console. Connecng the DI box to a mixer LINE input the DI box must be powered with baery.
8. 9V BATTERY HOLDER
For best reliability and long life, we recommend you use only high quality 9V PP3 type alkaline baery.

INTRODUZIONE
La DI box (direct injecon box leeralmente “scatola per l’iniezione direa”) preleva un segnale audio da una
sorgente e lo invia direamente al mixer. La DI box adempie a due importan funzioni: adaare l’impedenza
e bilanciare il segnale, prendendo l’uscita ad alta impedenza di una chitarra o una tasera e “trasformarla” in
una a bassa impedenza adaa ad essere usata nei sistemi di amplicazione bilancia professionali. Abbassando
l’impedenza e bilanciando il segnale si oene una maggiore immunità dal rumore e la possibilità di percorrere
lunghe distanze senza degrado del segnale. I segnali bilancia sono usa di norma in tue la applicazioni
professionali quali studi di registazione, studi televisivi, studi radiofonici e in parcolare sui palchi dei concer.
In praca si oerrà un suono migliore, minore rumore e una risposta in frequenza estesa.
DIRECT100A è una DI box ava dotata di trasformatore. Al suo interno è costuita da un circuito avo per
addaare l’impedenza e bilanciare il segnale e da un trasformatore che rende possibile un’isolamento completo
tra le masse eliminando tu i problemi di ronzio.
CONTROLLI E CONNESSIONI AUDIO
1. PAD - interruore
Il PAD aenua il segnale d’ingresso assicurando ai circui interni un segnale pulito e non distorto.
Sono possibili due combinazioni: 0 dB e -20 dB. Usare sempre la minore aenuazione possibile per avere il
migliore rapporto segnale/rumore.
2. INPUT - JACK sbilanciato o XLR femmina
Conneere lo strumento sorgente a questo jack per ricevere il segnale. L’impedenza di ingresso dipende dalla
impostazione del PAD: > 250 Kohm senza PAD, 47 Kohm con l’inserimento del PAD.
3. LINK - JACK sbilanciato
Conneere questo jack all’ingresso dell’amplicatore dello strumento o del monitor amplicato del musicista.
Esso è connesso direamente all’ingresso INPUT.
4. ON - LED blu
Il LED ON (blu) segnala quando la DIRECT100A è accesa. Se questo led non si accende, assicurarsi che la tensione
phantom del canale dove è collegata la DIRECT100A sia avata.
5. POWER - interruore
Il tasto power è usato sia per l’alimentazione tramite baeria che phantom. NOTA: Per prevenire danni
agli altoparlan ed evitare il rumore di accensione, conneere prima la DI box e quindi avare il canale
corrispondente oppure meere in mute il canale del mixer prima di avare e/o conneere la DIRECT100A.
6. GND LIFT - interruore
Usare il tasto GND LIFT per conneere o disconneere la massa tra ingresso e uscita. A seconda degli apparecchi
connessi, collegando o scollegando la massa della DI box si può eliminare o ridurre il ronzio.
7. BAL OUTPUT - XLR maschio
Questo conneore XLR maschio è l’uscita bilanciata a livello microfonico della DI box. Le connessioni sono
pin-1 massa, pin-2 posivo e pin-3 negavo. L’alimentazione alla DI box è fornita tramite l’ingresso MIC del
mixer con la tensione phantom avata. Conneendo la DI box all’ingresso LINE del mixer la DI box deve essere
alimentata da una baeria.
8. VANO BATTERIA 9V
Per una migliore adabilità e una lunga durata è consigliato l’uso esclusivo di baerie alkaline da 9V po PP3
di buona qualità.
