Features
â¢The HVL-LBPC is a Battery Video Light (referred to below as âthis unitâ) that,
when attached to a camera with a Multi Interface Shoe, can be turned on/
off automatically at the same time as the camera and automatically lit up
from the camera in low illumination. For more information, refer to the
instruction manual of your camera.
â¢This unit is a video light that has two kinds of white LED with different color
temperatures as its light source. The color temperature of this unit can be
switched between approx. 5,600 K and 3,200 K using the COLOR TEMP
dial.
â¢When used with the condenser lens, this unit provides a maximum
illuminance of about 1,800 lx. (When the distance from this unit to the
subject is 1 m, the color temperature is approx. 3,200 K to 5,600 K, and the
BRIGHT dial is set to MAX)
By setting the BOOSTER switch to ON, you can increase the illuminance
up to about 2,100 lx. (When the distance from this unit to the subject is
1îm, the color temperature is approx. 4,800 K, and the BRIGHT dial is set to
MAX)
â¢The white LED has a long lifetime of about 10,000 hours and so requires
almost no maintenance.
Precautions
â¢This unit does not have dust-proof, splash-proof or water-proof
specifications.
â¢This unit is a precision instrument. Do not drop, strike or apply a strong
impact.
â¢Do not attach the shoe adaptor supplied with this unit to a camera that
has a Multi Interface Shoe or an intelligent accessory shoe. Doing so may
damage the shoe of the camera.
â¢The operating temperature of this unit is from 0 °C (35 °F) to 40 °C (104 °F).
â¢Do not block the ventilation holes. Doing so will cause the internal
temperature to rise which can cause a fire or an accident and cause this
unit to malfunction.
â¢Do not look at the LED directly at close range while it is on. It may damage
your eyes.
â¢To prevent the camera from dropping, do not hold this unit attached to the
camera to carry it. Remove this unit from the camera when carrying the
camera around.
â¢The battery adaptor is specially made for this unit. Using it with another
device may cause the device to malfunction.
â¢Do not place this unit near combustible or volatile solvents, such as alcohol
or benzine. Doing so may cause a fire or smoke.
â¢Do not allow any liquid into this unit or drop combustible or metal objects
onto this unit. Doing so may cause a fire or a malfunction in this unit.
â¢Do not use or store this unit in the following locations. Doing so may cause
this unit to malfunction or deform. :
âa high temperature place such as inside a closed car in summer or in
strong sunshine
âin or near direct sunlight or near a heater
âlocations subject to intense vibrations
â¢When using this unit at high or low temperatures, the lightning time
is reduced because the battery capacity decreases as the temperature
changes. When using this unit at the temperature of 10 °C (50 °F) or less,
we recommend operating following steps for longer battery life.
âPut the battery pack in your pocket to warm it and attach the battery
pack to this unit just before use.
When putting a pocket heat pad in your pocket with the battery pack, be
careful not to touch the pocket heat pad to the battery pack directly.
âCharge the battery pack at room temperature (from 10 °C (50 °F) to 30 °C
(85 °F))
â¢When you have finished using this unit, be sure that the POWER switch of
this unit is set to âOFF.â
â¢When not using this unit or you have finished using it, be sure to remove
the battery pack from this unit.
â¢After use, do not store this unit into the case etc. immediately. The LED
may be damaged by the generated heat. When storing this unit into the
case, be sure that the power of this unit is set to âOFF,â and it has cooled
sufficiently.
â¢Do not leave the condenser lens in direct sunlight etc. Leaving the
condenser lens in direct sunlight while it is closed may cause this unit
to malfunction. Leaving the condenser lens in direct sunlight while it is
opened may cause a fire near the focal point of the condenser lens.
â¢If you record using a camera with this unit attached near a microphone,
the acoustic property of the recorded sound may be slightly affected.
â¢Do not apply the strong force or impact to this unit attached to the camera
or other device.

Notes
â¢Use the nearby wall outlet (wall socket) when using the AC Adaptor/
Charger (sold separately). Disconnect the AC Adaptor/Charger (sold
separately) from the wall outlet (wall socket) immediately if any
malfunction occurs while using the apparatus.
â¢If a battery pack from the L series is attached to the battery adaptor or a
cable is connected to the DC IN terminal, do not short-circuit the battery
terminal or carry or store the battery adaptor with metal objects.
â¢The battery pack cannot be recharged with this unit.
â¢When not using this unit, remove the battery pack from the battery
adaptor.
