Description
The ’HC4538 and ’HCT4538 are dual
retriggerable/resettable monostableprecision multivibrators
for fixedvoltage timing applications.An externalresistor
(RX)and anexternalcapacitor(CX) control the timingand
theaccuracy forthecircuit.Adjustmentof RXand CX
provides a widerange ofoutput pulse widths from the Q and
Qterminals. Thepropagation delayfrom trigger input-to-
output transitionandthe propagationdelay from reset input-
to-output transition are independent of R
X and CX.
Leading-edge triggering (A) and trailingedge triggering (B)
inputsare providedfortriggeringfromeither edgeofthe
input pulse.An unused “A” input shouldbe tied to GND and
an unusedB should be tiedto VCC. On power up the IC is
reset. Unusedresets andsectionsmust be terminated.In
normal operation the circuit retriggers on the application of
each new trigger pulse.To operate in the non-triggerable
mode Q is connected toB when leading edge triggering (A)
is used orQ is connected to Awhen trailing edge triggering
(B) is used. The period () can be calculated from= (0.7)τ τ
RX, CX; RMIN is 5k. CMIN is 0pF.
