SEQ 1/2 Sounds whose pitch or character changes rhythmically.
Precautions When Connecting
*  To prevent malfunction and equipment failure, always turn 
down the volume, and turn o all the units before making any 
connections.
*  Once the connections have been completed, turn on power 
to your various devices in the order specied. By turning on 
devices in the wrong order, you risk causing malfunction and/
or damage to speakers and other devices.
When powering up:  Turn on the power to your guitar amp last.
When powering down:  Turn o the power to your guitar amp rst.
*  Before turning the unit on/o, always be sure to turn the 
volume down. Even with the volume turned down, you might 
hear some sound when switching the unit on/o. However, 
this is normal and does not indicate a malfunction.
*  Do not use connection cables that contain a built-in resistor.
*  Use only the specied expression pedal. By connecting any 
other expression pedals, you risk causing malfunction and/or 
damage to the unit.
*  You must turn o the power when connecting or 
disconnecting an external footswitch. If you connect or 
disconnect a footswitch while the power is on, the SOUND 
HOLD function might remain on, or might not work. If the 
SOUND HOLD function remains on or does not work, turn the 
power o and then on again.
*  When using this unit together with another eect unit, this 
unit must be connected at the beginning of the chain. If an 
eect-processed guitar or bass sound is input to this unit, it 
might not work correctly.
Use of Battery
*  The life of the included battery may be limited as its primary 
purpose was for testing during assembly.
*  If you handle batteries improperly, you risk explosion and uid 
leakage. Make sure that you carefully observe all of the items 
related to batteries that are listed in “USING THE UNIT SAFELY” 
and “IMPORTANT NOTES” (supplied on a separate sheet).
*  When operating on battery power only, the unit’s indicator will 
become dim when battery power gets too low. Replace the 
battery as soon as possible.
*  Batteries should always be installed or replaced before 
connecting any other devices. This way, you can prevent 
malfunction and damage.
*  If operating this unit on battery, please use alkaline battery.
Changing the Battery
1.  Hold down the 
pedal and loosen 
the thumbscrew, 
then open the 
pedal upward.
*  The pedal can be 
opened without 
detaching the 
thumbscrew 
completely.
2.  Remove the old 
battery from the 
battery housing, 
and remove the snap cord connected to it.
3.  Connect the snap cord to the new battery, and place 
the battery inside the battery housing.
*  Be sure to carefully observe the battery’s polarity (+ versus -).
4.  Slip the coil spring onto the spring base on the back of 
the pedal, and then close the pedal.
*  Carefully avoid getting the snap cord caught in the pedal, coil spring, and 
battery housing.
5.  Finally, hold down the pedal while tightening the 
thumbscrew into the guide bush hole.

INPUT jack
This jack accepts input signals coming from a guitar or bass.
Guitar/BASS
SEND/RETURN jacks
Connect the SEND jack to the input, and RETURN jack to 
the output of an eect unit that you’re using to process 
the audio signal of your guitar/bass.
OUTPUT jack
Use this 1/4” output jack to connect to the input of 
your guitar amplier or the input of additional eect 
unit.
Guitar Amp
DC IN jack
In addition to 9-volt battery operation, this unit can also operate on a 9-volt AC adaptor (BOSS PSA series; 
sold separately).
*  Use only the specied AC adaptor (PSA series; sold separately), and connect it to an AC outlet 
of the correct voltage.
*  If the AC adaptor is connected while a battery is installed, the power 
supply is drawn from the AC adaptor.
CHECK indicator
This indicator shows whether an eect is ON/OFF, and doubles as the Battery Check indicator.
The indicator lights when an eect is ON.
*  The brightness of the CHECK indicator (LED) will dim as the battery lowers. Replace 
the battery when the LED is dim or does not light. For instructions, refer to “Changing 
the Battery.”
*  The CHECK indicator shows whether the eect is on or o, and indicates the dierent 
functions. It does not indicate whether the power to the device is on or not.
TONE/RATE knob /DEPTH knob
These knobs adjust the sound of the eect that’s selected by TYPE and 
VARIATION.
Pedal switch
This switch turns the eects ON/OFF.
SOUND HOLD function
1.  When you hear the eect sound (synth sound) that you want to 
hold, press the pedal switch once again and keep holding it down.
The hold function stays on while you keep holding down the pedal switch, 
and the CHECK indicator blinks. You continue to hear the eect sound in 
this state.
2.  To turn o the hold function, take your foot o the pedal switch.
The CHECK indicator turns on, and the unit is in the normal eect-on state.
*  If a footswitch is connected to the EXP/CTL jack, this function moves 
from this unit to the footswitch.
Panel Descriptions
VARIATION knob
This knob selects variations 1–11 of the sound selected by TYPE.
GUITAR/BASS switch
This switch selects settings that are suitable for a guitar or a bass.
TYPE knob
This knob switches the type of synth sound.
(see the “List of Types” below)
EFFECT knob
This knob adjusts the volume of the eect sound (synth sound).
DIRECT knob
This knob adjusts the volume of the direct sound.
If a device is connected to the SEND/RETURN jacks, this knob adjusts its volume.
EXP/CTL jack You can connect an external footswitch (sold separately) 
or expression pedal (sold separately) to this jack.
If a footswitch is connected, you can use the footswitch 
to operate the SOUND HOLD function.
If a dual footswitch is connected, you can also control (in 
addition to the SOUND HOLD function) either the pitch 
or the tempo according to the sound that’s selected by 
the knobs.
Pitch The pitch rises one octave while you hold down the switch.
Tempo You can enter the tempo by pressing the footswitch at the desired 
interval.
If an expression pedal is connected, you can use it to control the TONE/RATE 
eect. In this case, the position of the TONE/RATE knob is the maximum value of 
the expression pedal.

Thumbscrew
When this screw is loosened, the 
pedal will open, allowing you to 
change the battery.
*  For instructions on changing 
the battery, refer to 
“Changing the Battery.”
*  The INPUT jack also serves as the 
power switch. Power is turned on 
whenever a plug is inserted into the 
INPUT jack, and is turned o when 
the plug is disconnected. When not 
using the unit, you should disconnect 
any cord connected to the INPUT 
jack.
